The Good And The Bad of Carbohydrates And Weight Loss
Carbohydrates are considered as a sin if you are trying to lose weight. Most fad diets and weight loss programs
ask you to completely eliminate carbohydrates from your diet. But not all carbohydrates are bad. Whist some
carbohydrates attribute to weight gain, there are others that can not just assist in your weight loss process but
also assist in the growth and development of your body.
Completely cutting down on carbohydrates is certainly not a wise thing to do. It is important that you
understand the difference between the good and the bad carbohydrates and try to include the good ones in your diet.
Let us take a closer look at both the good and bad of carbohydrates.
The good carbohydrates
Complex carbohydrates are the good carbohydrates. These carbohydrates take a little longer to digest because of
their complex nature. As a result they keep you satiated for a long time and help you eat lesser. The result- you
lose weight. Further on, complex or the good carbohydrates help build muscles. And the more muscle you have the
more fat you burn. Here are some sources of good carbohydrates.
- Whole grains. Whole wheat breads, whole wheat pastas, brown rice, sweet potatoes, oats etc
contain whole grains. They have a high nutrition value and contain high quantities of fiber as well.
- Vegetables. Most vegetables have a low glycemic index and do not add to your weight.
- Fruits. They are high on nutrition and have a low calorific value.
The bad carbohydrates
Bad carbohydrates or simple carbohydrates are the ones that actually attribute to weight gain. These bad
carbohydrates have a high glycemic index. They are converted into sugar that runs through the arteries. Bad
carbohydrates are the ones that are responsible for deposition of plaque in the body. Also, these simple
carbohydrates are high on calories and very low in fiber. Here are some foods that contain bad carbohydrates.
- Baked goods. Most baked goods are made from white flour, Trans fats and white sugar. All
of these ingredients comprise of bad carbohydrates.
- Refined grains. Whole grains are processed to form refined grains. In the process the
entire nutrition from these grains gets removed. Also, refined grains have a high glycemic index and can
attribute to weight gain.
- Sodas. Sodas contain large amount of sugar which are also a simple carbohydrate.
The bottom line is simple that if you want to lose weight, you should eliminate bad carbohydrates and consume
the good ones. But is it really that easy? No. most of our favorite foods such as pastas, pizzas, burgers,
pastries, sodas etc are the other ones tat contain bad carbohydrates. Avoiding all these foods completely is
something that becomes difficult.
Thus, it is suggested that you use a diet pill such as Dietrine Carb Blocker along with avoiding the bad food.
This weight loss pill particularly acts on the carbohydrates present in your diet. It prevents the bad
carbohydrates from converting into sugar and consecutively prevents their absorption by the body and thus
facilitates weight loss.
